Long Beach, Mississippi - Gulf Coast Homes

It's only mid-morning of Day 6 of my trip south from Detroit. I've already taken photos in Gulfport, Mississippi and along its Gulf Coast. But still a long day ahead.

Long Beach, Mississippi doesn't have a lot of homes along its Gulf Coast so I had to drive up the side streets from US 90.

Gulfport, Mississippi - Gulfport Marina

A few photos from the Gulfport, Mississippi marina. These were taken at the end of Day 6 of my trip south from Detroit. More photos will come of Long Beach and Pass Christian homes and marinas but I will show them out of shooting order so I can keep the locations together.

The structures you see are just short towers along the dock leading to the boats. I don't know that they're any more than that. Maybe some storage for marina maintenance. Going onto the walkway between boats is open only to boat owners so I didn't get close to them. See here for how they look from a distance at night in the sunset. They give the marina a distinct look.

All the photos on this page were taken using the HDR (High Dynamic Range) technique. They don't really represent some of the spectacular examples you can find of HDR photos. They're just some of my experiments.

This photo (below) is from way out on the marina looking back. As you can see the water isn't deep here. There's some sand in the lower left of the photo.

Gulfport, Mississippi - Gulf Coast Homes

It's the morning of Day 6 of my trip from Detroit and these are photos of the beautiful homes along the Gulf Coast of Gulfport, Mississippi.

This is US 90 with Gulfport, Mississippi on the north and the Gulf of Mexico on the south.

Most of the homes along this stretch of the Gulf Coast are on stilts.

The pictures above and below remind me of homes you might see in Indian Village here in Detroit.

Here's 2 pictures of the same house (above and below). You may be able to make out (in the picture below) the 2 dogs on the porch that yapped at me the whole time I was there. They did their job.

Some homes in Gulfport, Mississippi

It was Day 6 of my drive south from Detroit and I woke up early in a Biloxi, Mississippi motel room knowing this would be the most photo intensive day of the trip.

I planned to take photos of the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast homes on stilts along US 90, driving east to west, from Gulfport to Pass Christian, then on my way back US 90, I would photograph the marinas.

But first, I began with a drive around Gulfport and taking photos of the kind of houses most of us would live in. This area was close to Broad Street and the US Navy Seabee Base which was my homeport in the 1970s.
